Due to mandates from the Office of the Governor of the State of New York, Andrew Cuomo, regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, live and in-person events statewide have been cancelled or postponed in recent months and this trend will likely continue for the unforeseeable future. In response, many museums and galleries have taken to the internet to reach and entertain their patrons. The good folks at Choose Cohoes for Art are no exception. Undaunted, they have taken their 10th Annual Cohoes Artist Showcase (CAS) online. Like previous Cohoes Artist Showcases, the Virtual CAS is designed to increase awareness of the arts while focusing on artists living or working in Albany, Schenectady, Saratoga, and Rensselaer counties.
Being a virtual exhibition, the Virtual CAS is not encumbered by the limitations of a brick-and-mortar gallery space, so the Showcase will officially open on June 1, 2020 and remain live until traditional exhibitions can be resumed. Also, the Choose Cohoes for Art team will continue to accept submissions for the Showcase until they have 25 artists, 100 pieces of art, or until the end of June 2020, whichever comes first. If you're interested in exhibiting, there is still plenty of time and opportunity, so feel free to contact the Choose Cohoes for Art team vie e-mail or social media for information on how you can take part.
My contributions to the Virtual CAS are pencil drawings of three pop-culture icons: Boris Karloff as the Frankenstein Monster, The Child (more commonly known as Baby Yoda), and Jeffrey Dean Morgan in his role as The Comedian in The Watchmen film.
Visit the Virtual Cohoes Artist Showcase where you are free to enjoy the artwork, start or enhance your collection, connect with artists, or join the exhibition yourself. Your support and involvement are welcomed and greatly appreciated.
Thanks to Dave and Ann Marie Koschnick, Fred Neudoerffer, and the Choose Cohoes for Art team for their generosity, dedication, and determination.
